Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex | 212 W. 7th Street\, Joplin\, MO 64801\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCost: $15\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nCreativity Unlimited is a welcoming\, process-based art class designed specifically for neurodivergent young adults. This class prioritizes creative freedom\, confidence-building\, and self-expression over finished outcomes. Participants are encouraged to explore materials and ideas at their own pace in a supportive\, low-pressure environment. Rather than following a single step-by-step project\, students make choices about how they work\, what they create\, and how deeply they engage—fostering autonomy and personal connection to the creative process.\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWhat age is “young adult”? \nThat’s intentionally up to you. This program was designed without a fixed age range so that parents and caregivers can decide whether Creativity Unlimited is the right environment for their child or loved one. You know them better than any number does and we are excited to help them feel empowered in creating in our classroom with us. \n\n\n\n \n\n\nWhat to expect:\n\n\n\n\nA calm\, adaptable studio environment\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpen-ended projects using a variety of materials\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmphasis on enjoyment\, exploration\, and self-expression\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGuidance and support tailored to individual needs\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNo prior art experience is required\, and all supplies are provided.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA space where creativity is about expression\, not perfection—and every artist is supported exactly where they are.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\nNeed additional financial assistance? Contact Education Director Des Hernandez at dhernandez@spivaarts.org or call us at 417-623-0183 — we’d love to help your family get involved.\n

SUMMARY:Ceramic Wind Chimes: 2 Part Class
DESCRIPTION:  \nAges: 14 – Adult \n \nTeacher: Daria Claiborne \nPart 1: Saturday\, July 11 | 1:00 – 2:30 PM \nPart 2: Saturday\, August 8 | 1:00 – 3:30 PM \nCost: $70 \n  \nCreate a one-of-a-kind ceramic wind chime across two sessions with instructor Daria Claiborne! \nIn Part One\, students will dive into the heart of the ceramic process. You will learn hand-building techniques to create clay tiles and sculptural attachments that will eventually become the chiming elements of the finished piece. This session is all about exploration and personal expression: you’ll experiment with a variety of texturing techniques to add visual depth and tactile interest to your clay pieces. You will then bring them to life with underglazes in colors and patterns inspire you. Whether you lean toward bold and graphic or soft and organic\, this is your chance to make each piece distinctly your own. \nBetween sessions\, your creations will be fired and readied for the next stage. \nIn Part Two\, students will return to assemble everything into a complete\, functional wind chime with guidance from Daria. You’ll learn how to arrange and string your pieces together to achieve both great sound and great style\, and leave with a finished work of art ready to hang at home. \nThis two-part class is perfect for teens and adults of all experience levels — no prior ceramics knowledge required. Just bring your curiosity and creativity\, and we’ll handle the rest! \n\n \n \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Crow Party
DESCRIPTION:Ages: 7-16 (parents are welcome to register and participate as well) \n \nTeacher: Autumn Neuenschwander \nCalling all collectors and curious minds! Bring your own shiny trinket collection to frame and put on display in a keepsake shadowbox. Whether you’ve been hoarding bottle caps\, buttons\, coins\, or glittery odds and ends for years\, this is your moment to give them the spotlight they deserve. Don’t have enough to fill a frame? No problem! We’ll have extra trinkets available for trading and swapping\, so you can curate the perfect arrangement. And if you’re starting completely from scratch\, all materials will be provided to get you going. Frames are included for every participant\, so all you need to bring is your creativity. \nBut the fun doesn’t stop there! Autumn will be teaching you about the world of crows — nature’s original collectors and master problem-solvers. Want to really commit to the theme? Attendees are encouraged to dress the part to whatever degree of formality they are comfortable with. Think black and feathery! \n

SUMMARY:Block-Printed Tea Towels
DESCRIPTION:Ages: 12-Adult \nTeacher: Autumn Neuenschwander \nDate: Saturday\, July 25 | 12:30-2:30 pm \nDuration: 2 – 2.5 Hours \nMax: 12 Students \nCost: $40 \n\nGet ready to roll up your sleeves and make something you’ll actually want to use! In this hands-on printmaking class\, students of all ages will design and carve their very own custom block prints using recycled foam and natural objects\, then put them to work printing an original\, repeating design onto a flour sack tea towel. \nThe process is as fun as the finished product. You’ll start by sketching and cutting your design into foam to create a reusable stamp\, and explore the organic shapes and textures that natural objects bring to the printing process — think leaves\, seed pods\, and other materials provided by instructor Autumn Neuenschwander. From there\, it’s all about pattern\, color\, and creativity as you print directly onto your towels and watch your design come to life. \nThis class is a wonderful opportunity for kids\, teens\, and parents to create side by side\, each working on their own unique designs while sharing in the same process. No printmaking experience is needed! \nEvery student will leave with two printed tea towels to take home — functional works of art that make great gifts or a cheerful addition to any kitchen. \nInstructor provides all natural objects for printing.
