Spiva Arts is proud to celebrate the 42nd year of PhotoSpiva. The Founders of PhotoSpiva state that the objective of the competition is to “present an exhibition of excellence in photography, celebrating the scope and vigorous activity of today’s contemporary photographers”.
For decades, the George A. Spiva Center for the Arts has delivered an exhibit of photographic excellence from artists across the country, and PhotoSpiva 2018 will be no less impressive.
From March 17 through May 12, 2018, sixty-three images will be on display at the exhibit. The winner will be chosen by the 2018 juror Henry Horenstein in a blind judging. The winner will be announced on March 17 and presented cash prizes, sponsored by Freeman R. Johnson Trust. Awards began that night at 7 pm.
To enter PhotoSpiva 2018, contestants must have submitted their images in a JPEG format in RGB color mode. PhotoSpiva is open to any amateur or professional photographer in the United States. Submitted images must be the photographer’s own work, and the work must have not been exhibited at George A. Spiva Center for the Arts before the competition.
Cash awards begin at $1,000 for First Place, $750 for Second Place, and $500 for Third Place.
There will also be three merit awards for $150 per award, and three honorable mention awards given for $100 each.
Although the deadline to submit photographer passed on January 1, 2018, the community is encouraged to come celebrate the photographers’ efforts during the running of the exhibit.
Spiva Arts will hold a members’ and exhibiting artists’ opening reception on Friday, March 16, 5:30-7:30 pm. The suggested contribution for non-member guests is $5.
This event is sponsored by Freeman Health System and Freeman R. Johnson Trust.
Macadoodles Fine Wines, The Wild Flower, and Spiva Board of Directors will be hosting.
