“Broken” by Al Gritten

12×12, oil

“My grandson, fascinated by his mother’s handprint cast in plaster at about his same age, took the casting off the wall to look at it and dropped and broke it. We glued it back together but it is difficult to get everything back the same way. It reminded me of life – it gets broken at times and we put it back together, but it’s never exactly the same, no matter how hard we try or how carefully we work.”
