September is Color Blindness Awareness Month! Alongside EnChroma, we are helping to share how color blindness can affect daily life – and how it may change the way visitors view our galleries.
We have EnChroma glasses available for use in our galleries, which are designed to revolutionized the way people with red-green color blindness can see the world. We encourage you to stop by the 2nd floor desk and try them out!

One in 10 men (8%) and one in 200 women (.5%) are color blind — 13 million in the US, 30 million in Europe and 350 million worldwide. People with red-green Color Vision Deficiency (CVD, or “color blindness”) only see about 10% of the one million hues and shades visible to those with regular color vision.
At work, school, in daily life, while exploring nature or viewing artwork, it can be difficult for these individuals to see red or green or any colors containing them (and at an arts center, that’s a big deal!) We strive to provide our visitors the best experience possible. After all, art is for everyone!
