About the Class:
Learn the art of visible mending and decorative patching in this hands-on workshop. Adria will teach you how to hand stitch patches to cover or reinforce rips and tears, as well as how to repair small fabric breaks—no sewing machine required. Patching not only extends the life of garments but can also add personality and charm through creative, decorative designs. Bring an item you’d like to repair, or use Spiva’s in-house fabric to practice and experiment with different techniques.
About Adria:
Adria Garrison is a multidisciplinary artist and educator whose creative interests span painting, sewing, embroidery, cross-stitching, and leatherworking. She’s been sewing since the age of five and brings a deep appreciation for traditional craft into her teaching. Adria holds a teaching degree and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Museum Studies at the University of Oklahoma.
Her professional experience includes fossil preparation and field trip guiding at the Missouri Museum of Natural Sciences, alongside running her own dog grooming business, Riley’s Paw Spa. With a background in history, education, and hands-on artmaking, Adria creates fun, curiosity-driven spaces where students can explore new skills and make meaningful connections through art.

Check-In: Please arrive a few minutes early to check in at the 1st-floor welcome desk, then take the elevator to the 3rd floor.
Parking: Visitor parking is available on the west side of the building off Wall Avenue. Additional parking can be found along Wall Avenue, on 8th Street, and in the Liberty parking lot on 7th Street.
