Andy Thomas: The Artful Journey

Sharon & Lance Beshore Gallery

Spiva Center for the Arts is pleased to present an exhibition featuring the work of acclaimed American painter Andy Thomas, an artist celebrated for his ability to capture history, adventure, and everyday life through compelling visual narratives. Known as “The Storyteller,” Thomas creates paintings that transport viewers into the heart of the moment—whether depicting a lively family gathering, a dramatic wildlife encounter, or pivotal scenes from the American West and Civil War

Thomas has spent more than three decades building a nationally recognized career, earning a reputation for dynamic compositions filled with movement, emotion, and historical authenticity. His distinctive approach to Western art led to his induction as one of the original members of the C.M. Russell Museum’s Skull Society of Artists in 2013, an honor recognizing living artists who carry forward the legacy and traditions of Charles M. Russell (1864-1926).

Beyond the American West, Thomas has become well known for his historically researched Civil War paintings, with works included in the collections of national and state parks such as Stones River and Pea Ridge. His paintings are also held in museums across the country, including the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art, the Gilcrease Museum, and the Pierce Museum of Western Art, as well as regional institutions like the Civil War Museum in Carthage and the History Museum on the Square in Springfield, Missouri.

This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience the breadth of Andy Thomas’s remarkable career in one place. Whether you are drawn to Western landscapes, American history, wildlife, or simply exceptional storytelling through paint, this exhibition promises an engaging journey through the work of this most accomplished contemporary narrative artist.
