Joplin, MO – Connect2Culture, Spiva Center for the Arts, and Missouri Arts Council are proud to host Artist INC Express Joplin at Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex (212 W. 7th St., Joplin, MO 64801) on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 12–5pm both days. This FREE program is designed to help artists of any discipline develop the building blocks for a thriving and enduring arts practice.
Led by a team of experienced, working artists, this ten-hour, hands-on workshop addresses the specific needs and challenges artists face throughout their careers. Through discussions, activities, and hands-on exercises, participants will work with artist-facilitators and a network of peer artists to set goals for their practice, write about their work, and build a personal brand.
Artist INC Express is a condensed, yet highly interactive, version of the popular eight-week Artist INC Live program, which has been completed by more than 2,000 artists since 2009. This streamlined version explores core concepts of building a lasting arts practice in a shorter, more flexible format, making it accessible to a broader audience of artists.
Participants are asked to commit to the entire workshop, as exercises build on one another and deep relationships are developed with fellow artists. The workshop fosters ongoing peer-to-peer resource sharing, collaborations, and support long after it concludes.
“So worth it. I feel so empowered, seen, supported, hopeful, and ready to launch what I learned. The difference in me from before to after is palpable.” – Artist INC program participant
