Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make something you’ll actually want to use! In this hands-on printmaking class, students of all ages will design and carve their very own custom block prints using recycled foam and natural objects, then put them to work printing an original, repeating design onto a flour sack tea towel.
The process is as fun as the finished product. You’ll start by sketching and cutting your design into foam to create a reusable stamp, and explore the organic shapes and textures that natural objects bring to the printing process — think leaves, seed pods, and other materials provided by instructor Autumn Neuenschwander. From there, it’s all about pattern, color, and creativity as you print directly onto your towels and watch your design come to life.
This class is a wonderful opportunity for kids, teens, and parents to create side by side, each working on their own unique designs while sharing in the same process. No printmaking experience is needed!
Every student will leave with two printed tea towels to take home — functional works of art that make great gifts or a cheerful addition to any kitchen.
Instructor provides all natural objects for printing.
