In conjunction with Press Play: Collage and Print in the Beshore Gallery, Spiva Center for the Arts is presenting a complementary exhibition of fine art prints from its Permanent Collection, along with a selection of works generously loaned from the collection of Dr. Joe Pryor. While Press Play explores the contemporary intersection of collage and printmaking, this companion exhibition highlights the rich history and versatility of printmaking through original works created using techniques such as serigraphy, woodcut, and other traditional and contemporary processes. Featured artists include Ed Paschke, Yaacov Agam, Gerald Johnson, and Robert Addison, alongside additional noteworthy prints from Dr. Pryor’s distinguished collection.
Together, these two exhibitions celebrate printmaking as both a historic and evolving art form. Visitors will encounter an impressive variety of styles and subject matter, from representational landscapes to vibrant abstractions and studies of color and form. By viewing both exhibitions, audiences can gain a broader appreciation for the technical skill, creativity, and expressive possibilities that have made printmaking an enduring medium for artists across generations.
